Baptism is an essential element of discipleship - following Jesus - and one of the most exciting celebrations of God's great work in the life of his people.
Reality will celebrate Baptisms when there is a few or a crew to be baptized - usually on Kits point (Kits Beach).
As a portable church, we have no special tank and prefer to do this deal out in God's creation (cold water & all).
NEXT BAPTISM & BEACH PARTY: Easter Sunday, April 20 @ 1pm
Baptisms held at 1pm - followed by a beach party (weather dependent)
What is the process for being Baptized @ reality?
In the Spring of 2009, Reality spent a Sunday morning unpacking the Baptism of Jesus (from Luke 3). This served double-duty - as both a sermon & as a Baptism Class. See below for sermon audio & summary.
If you've never been baptized as a believer (as distinct from infant baptism), please listen to this sermon & take a read through our Baptism guide (download below). Included with this guide is a handy-dandy section on How to Write Your Story. All baptism candidates will need to meet with a Covenant Member, Deacon or Elder of Reality Vancouver Church, and have the privilege of sharing their story publicly.
Please sign up at the Connect Ctr if you're interested in more information, or on being baptized at Reality. OR - email questions/details to: firstname.lastname@example.org

When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased. Luke 3:21-22 niv
How do you identify yourself? With whom do you identify?
The concept of baptism has much to do with our identity how we see ourselves how God sees us how the world sees us. Its about our old identity and our new identity.
In this message we focus on the baptism of Jesus - what it meant in the 1st century - and its practical implication for us today. For those who are Christians and haven't yet been baptized, this will be an exercise in asking why not. For those who are not yet Christians, hopefully this will answer some questions about the identity and character of a Christian.
Baptism defined: The Christian act of immersing a believer under water and then bringing him or her up out of the water. It is a practical representation of the Gospel of Jesus, as the person being baptized is plunged beneath the water (death) and brought forth (new life) in the same way that Jesus was buried in the earth, and resurrected on their behalf in forgiveness of their sins.
1. Baptism is about Jesus not about us.
2. Baptism is commanded by Jesus
3. Baptism symbolizes and expresses our identity with Jesus
4. HOW? Baptism is done by immersion under water
5. WHEN? Immediately or shortly after spiritual conversion/salvation, and once
6. WHO should be baptized? Christians. All of them. As long as they are old enough to understand sin, the cross, their need of Jesus - & willing to publicly share their story.
